Teacher - Matheus Corsi

Bio:
Matheus Corsi is a Brazilian-born drummer and percussionist acclaimed for his rhythmic versatility, technical precision, and deep musical sensibility. Raised in Brazil’s vibrant percussive culture, he was immersed in rhythm from an early age—performing with local ensembles and exploring an array of traditional instruments. His discovery of the drum kit became a turning point, igniting a passion for creating intricate, multi-limbed rhythms that would shape his artistic voice.

After studying drums during his formative years in Brazil, Matheus relocated to Australia, where he deepened his musical education and refined his technique. This cross-cultural journey not only broadened his musical influences but also allowed him to blend the raw power of Brazilian percussion with contemporary drumming styles in innovative ways.

Matheus has performed at Brazilian cultural festivals across Australia, earning recognition for his authentic performances and commitment to preserving and evolving traditional styles. His influences extend beyond Brazilian music—drawing heavily from classic and progressive rock of the 1970s and '80s, as well as the alternative and heavy metal scenes of the 1990s and beyond. These genres continue to inform his distinctive approach to the drum kit, combining dynamic expression with technical force as inspired by his drum idols Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy, Bruno Valverde, Eloy Casagrande, and Aquiles Priester.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Matheus is an avid rock climber, finding inspiration and mental focus in the physical and meditative challenges of the sport. He is currently channeling his creative energy into a new band project called “A Quiet Death”, where he continues to push the boundaries of his sound and collaborate with like-minded artists dedicated to musical innovation.
