Seb Wright
Seb is a focused and motivated drummer whose strong musical foundation, versatility, and enthusiasm for performance shape both his playing and his teaching approach. He brings a contemporary and well-rounded perspective to drum education, with a deep regard for groove, feel, and stylistic awareness.
Seb completed his Rockschool (RSL) Grade 8 Drum Kit exam with a Distinction in 2020, reflecting a high level of technical skill and musical maturity. He continued his formal training by completing the RSL Professional Diploma in Performance in 2023, further refining his musicianship, performance discipline, and stylistic adaptability across a range of contemporary genres. Seb is a graduate of St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace, where he was actively involved in the school’s music program and further developed his passion for drumming. He is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium, stepping outside of his typical comfort zone of pop/rock/prog by majoring in Jazz Drums, where he continues to deepen his understanding of improvisation, time feel, and stylistic nuance under formal tertiary training.
Alongside his studies, Seb has built substantial real-world performance experience from a young age. He has been actively gigging since the age of 13 and continues to perform regularly, developing a strong understanding of live performance, ensemble playing, and professional musicianship. His performance credits include drumming for semi-professional musical theatre productions such as The Wiz, where he gained valuable experience working in structured, high-pressure performance environments.
Seb approaches drum education with patience, clarity, and relatability. He delivers the established “Practical Drumming” course material, drawing on his ongoing performance experience to help students connect technical skills with real musical application. His teaching style is supportive, practical, and focused on building strong foundations while encouraging musical confidence and enjoyment.
