Bio:
Ben Mackay is a working musician and educator based in Brisbane, with 20 years of professional industry experience. He is a sessional lecturer at JMC Academy, where he teaches ensemble performance and works closely with students on practical musicianship, collaboration, and confident live performance.

Alongside his tertiary teaching, Ben also teaches instrumental guitar and bass at Centenary State High School, and has extensive experience working with students across both secondary and tertiary education settings.

His professional background spans original music, commercial and tribute acts, church and gospel performance, and international cruise contracts with P&O Cruises (2017–2024). He has performed with artists including Sheppard, Amy Sheppard, Sahara Beck, Tania Doko (Bachelor Girl), Bud Rokesky, Rohin Jones, Clea, The Cairos, Cheap Fakes, Hey Geronimo, Darlene Czech, and Youth Alive QLD, and has released original music through projects such as beneb, LeSuits, The Worriers, and Turnt Tina & The Eternitinas, receiving national and international radio play.

Ben’s teaching philosophy centres on preparing students for sustainable music careers through adaptability, professionalism, and strong ensemble skills.
